Our Story

Il Trullo is a place for people who simply love Italian food and are happy to try something a little different while being on the other side of the world.

Our story begins with two young people from Puglia, Francesca and Diego who met by pure chance on the other side of the world. Sometimes it is really  impressive just how small the world is. We both have a passion for food and we believe in serving fresh, high quality food to our customers.


One day, while we were busy, one of us made a joke to the other saying "One day we’ll open a restaurant together" and after 5 years, our promise came true. 

Along the way, on our fantastic Australian experience, we met two chefs who love Italian cuisine and who are not afraid to get involved to commit themselves...and from there, we decided to open “Il Trullo” and share our passion - Italian food - with all of you.

Il Trullo is essentially based on our origins, an Italian region called Puglia, with its breathtaking beaches, incredible places to visit and food and wine that everyone loves. It is an icon of our region which reminds us our roots, where we come from. 


The design of our restaurant is based on the colours and textures of the Trulli of Alberobello, such as grey, white, yellow and blue. The food is represented by the typical dishes from Puglia and other parts of Italy, with homemade pasta, bread and cakes all this accompanied by some of the best Italian and local wines.
